All Things Kids & Hair

resource preview

Having healthy hair is a sign that our bodies are well on the inside too. When our children's hair is dull, dry or isn't growing, it can be a sign that there are areas underneath that need some really good support. Whether you're dealing with acute hair issues (when the dreaded email comes from the teacher…) or just need some daily tools for your child's hair needs, we have you covered!

image ALL THINGS KIDS & HAIR FAVORITES

  • KidScents Shampoo & Conditioner (for daily use, and you can customize them to fit your specific needs!)
  • Mirah Hair Oil (for nourishing the ends of hair after washing)
  • NingXia Red (a daily antioxidant drink that helps with hair strength and growth)
  • SulfurZyme powder (for even more support)
  • Mineral Essence (because minerals are KEY to healthy hair and skin)
  • Lavender, Tea Tree, Geranium, & Rosemary essential oils

Healthy hair takes creating small, daily habits that add up to big results. Our children's hair can take a beating between sun, wind, chlorine, hard water, air pollution and much more, so nourishing it with daily routines will go a long way. Making one small change today may not show results tomorrow, but these small changes compound over time for big results!

QUICK HEALTHY HAIR TIPS

  • Use a natural, sulfate-free, hydrating shampoo and conditioner. We love the KidScents Shampoo & Conditioner for our kids – or the Lavender Volume Shampoo & Conditioner!
  • Use Mirah Lustrous Hair Oil on the ends of hair to prevent damage. We like to do this after washing or wetting the hair.
  • Opt for claw clips or loose cotton scrunchies over tight hair bands.
  • Consider a silk pillowcase to reduce frizz for hair with natural texture or wave.

Healthy hair isn't just about how it makes us look and feel - it is also a huge indicator of things going on underneath! So when it comes to hair health, what you use on your locks is just as important as what you put in your body. There are a handful of supplements that are incredible for hair health, growth, and recovery. And these supplements also have other health benefits as well!

SUPPLEMENTS FOR HAIR HEALTH & GROWTH SulfurZyme Powder (or Capsules) SulfurZyme is a huge player when it comes to hair and skin health. This supplement is a unique combination of MSM (the protein-building compound found in breast milk, fresh fruits and vegetables) and the Ningxia wolfberry that helps with healthy hair, skin, nails and joints. MSM or methylsulfonylmethane is an incredible support tool for our bodies. It helps the body produce the antioxidant glutathione, which repairs cellular damage. It also boosts both collagen and keratin production.

Collagen and keratin are what gives hair strength, durability and that “healthy” look — and they can help reverse hair loss. Hair, skin, and nail cells all contain large amounts of keratin, which contains sulfur and needs it to stay strong. Boosting collagen and keratin production helps you fight back against damage from the inside out.

We recommend the powder for best absorption, but the capsules could be used if you prefer. Mix your SulfurZyme into 2-4oz of NingXia Red and take twice daily for best results! Some people choose to double up on the dosing for more acute needs.

Inner Beauty Collagen This one is a no-brainer when it comes to healthy hair! Collagen is THE protein of the body. It's the most abundant protein and is the crucial support piece for your hair, skin, nails, joints, muscles and gut lining.

Made with a highly soluble form of bioavailable type I marine collagen, peach ceramides, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and no added sugars, Inner Beauty Collagen supports your natural radiance from the inside out. Inner Beauty Collagen supports vibrant, lit- from-within skin and healthy-looking hair and nails with a daily dose of collagen, antioxidants, and other skin-supporting ingredients that are naturally derived and sustainably sourced,

Mineral Essence Ever thought about using Mineral Essence on your scalp for hair growth? Well, it works! In addition to adding Mineral Essence to your daily NingXia Red (great for hair growth and overall health in general), you can actually apply this incredible supplement directly to the scalp to promote hair growth and health. To use: Simply drop Mineral Essence onto the scalp and massage in gently. Let sit for 20-30 minutes, then wash hair with gentle, sulfate-free shampoo.

HEALTHY HAIR & CHLORINE Chlorine can take a toll on our hair, and our kids are not immune to it! One of the best ways to handle chlorine damage is through prevention. Wet your child's hair before entering the pool, and also consider spraying a bit of KidScent conditioner (dilute a bit in water to make it easily spray-able) into their hair before they enter the pool.

If hair is being damaged, using the Lavender Mint Clarifying Shampoo and Copaiba Vanilla Conditioner can help. Clarifying removes the chemicals, and deep conditioning replenishes the lost moisture.

Chlorine chemically bonds to your skin and hair, so it can build up over time. In order to remove chlorine from the skin and hair, it needs to be neutralized so that the chemical bond is broken. And we can do this with vitamin C!!

Summer Days Vitamin C Spray – make this at the very beginning of the summer!

  • 1 cup organic rosehips
  • 2 cups organic apple cider vinegar with ‘the mother'
  • 10 drops each Copaiba, Rosemary, Cedarwood essential oils
  • Combine the rosehips and apple cider vinegar in a clean glass jar and store it in a cabinet for 4-6 weeks. Strain the rosehips, add essential oils, and pour into a spray bottle.
  • After a swim in a chlorinated pool, rinse your hair and skin well with water, then spray the vitamin C spray throughout the hair, working it into the strands to neutralize the chlorine. You can also use it on your skin!
